Make plans to join us for a free workshop at the Schuyler County Humane Society. Participants will be led in creating ink drawings of animals using Sumi ink and rice paper.
Until about 150 years ago, copying books and tracing designs using thin rice paper (washi/oriental paper) and ink over an original image were common methods for learning and practicing the fundamentals of both calligraphy and painting in Japan.
Participants in this workshop will use the tracing method to copy Chojyu-giga inspired work created by Farwell House Artist-in-Residence, Hiromi Stringer. Once participants become familiar with using sumi ink, they will be encouraged to add their own creative touches or create original drawings.
This event is free to the public but is limited to 10 participants. Participants must register for a FREE ticket at the ticket link below.
This event is a partnership between Farwell House and the Schuyler County Humane Society.
