My mother, father & I moved to Frederick in the spring of 1977. At that time, Frederick had a fish market, located at the bottom of the hill where the Farwell House is located. A beauty salon, a small store and a greenhouse, a church and post office were also located nearby. The small store, owned by Mr. & Mrs.Parks, did not have normal business hours. If you needed something from the store, you just knocked on the back door of their house and Mr.Parks would come out and open the store for you. You could only find this type of convenience in a small town.
