Frederick Fall Fling and Strummin’ on the HIll

From 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Frederick Fall Fling – This first-ever family friendly event, co-sponsored by Frederick Township, is centered around activities for children. Activities include two inflatable bouncers, fall-themed arts and crafts as well as a variety of lawn games. Hot dogs and chips will also be available. Donations are accepted but not expected.
From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Strummin’ on the Hill – This annual event will be a bit different than years past. This year we will have one head line performance from the trio known as Marvin. Droopy Tomlinson, Ben Clemmens and Brandon Lafary will be performing a variety of music covers from the 70’s to the 2000’s. Everything from Fleetwood Mac to The Flaming Lips. And another new addition to this years event will be wood-fired pizza provided by the wildly popular Plank Road Pizza Co. Several unique pizza offerings will be available for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and your favorite beverages and join us up on the hill for these fantastic fall events at Farwell House.

Artist In Residency Open Studios and Workshops
June 29, 2023 – 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm @ Farwell House
From 4:30-6:00 pm, we will host an open studio and discussion event for artist duo Evan and Stacey Smith. This is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to talk with Evan and Stacey about their professional practice and what it’s like to work alongside a spouse.
From 6:00-7:30 pm, current AIR Karri Dieken will conduct a hands-on screen printing event. This event is connected with a new project installation by Dieken titled “Mind Your Manners“. The new installation will represent the domestic space centered around food, manners, and the table. Participants at this event will be invited to screen print an image onto a table napkin. Ice cream also becomes an artistic element and guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some themselves at this unique event.
Both events are free and open to all ages.
Artist In Residency Open Studios with Jamie Platt and Katerie Gladdys
June 15, 2023 – 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm @ Farwell House
From 4:30-6:00 pm, we will be hosting an open studio event for painter Katelyn Chapman. This is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to talk with Katelyn about her professional practice and to see some of her current work in progress. The open studio is free and open to all ages.
From 6:00-7:30 pm, current AIR Zachary Trebellas will discuss a participatory art series he is currently working on called the “Q Files” and conduct a hands-on mini workshop. “Q Files” (questioning files) is an art series seeking to capture a moment of confusion and uncertainty along one’s journey of romantic and sexual self-discovery. Visually inspired by vintage trading cards and 90’s role-playing game character stats, Q Files share these stories via 4″x 3″ (10cm x 7.5cm) cards. The workshop will provide an opportunity for visitors to become active participants in his project through the addition of their own stories.
