Hello folks.  Much has been taking place at Farwell House over the past several months.  Currently, we are rewiring (the entire house!), upgrading the plumbing, plastering walls and drywalling our ceilings.  Christy has been hard a work finalizing the layout of our communal kitchen along with bathroom design. And the list goes on…and on.

Besides the house upgrades, we recently partnered with The Hub Arts and Cultural Center in Rushville and hosted two separate community conversations focused on the role of the arts and creative placemaking in rural communities. Through grant funding from Illinois Humanities, we were able to dialog with over 25 participants from the surrounding area on this topic. During our conversations, we also discussed the benefits and challenges of doing this kind of work in our region.  We encountered old friends and many new faces.  Both organizations felt the evening was a huge success and we are certainly looking forward to what will unfold from the connections we made.

With that being said we are working on our first creative placemaking project in Frederick. Object Of My Affection will be a community driven project that involves personal histories, construction, and celebration to draw our community together and help ignite the deep connection between people, place, and purpose.   As this project takes shape we will keep you updated on how you, our Frederick neighbors, can become involved.  Onward and upward my friends.
